This Week Take a Hike With Tess Taylor
Tess Taylor is the author of five poetry collections and editor of the anthology Leaning Toward Light: Poems for Gardens & the Hands that Tend Them. In 2025, she opened a stage adaptation of her book of poems about Dorothea Lange, titled LAST WEST. Taylor’s next collection, Come Bite, will be published in 2027.
In addition to her celebrated poetry collections, Taylor has taught at numerous universities, from UC Berkely, to Queen’s University Belfast, where she was a Distinguished US Fulbright Scholar. She has also as a poetry-reviewer for NPR’s All Things Considered for over a decade.
Widely published, Taylor’s poetry and nonfiction appears in The Atlantic, Boston Review, Harvard Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, The Times Literary Supplement, Travel & Leisure, among many other journals. She also chaired the poetry committee of the National Book Critics Circle for 6 years.
