Sorensen Magnet School of the Arts and Humanities, Coeur d’Alene

Abby Fremouw is a third-grade teacher at Sorensen Magnet School of the Arts and Humanities in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she lives with her husband and three children. She enjoys spending time outdoors and being part of her close-knit community. In her classroom, Abby fosters curiosity through meaningful questions about human behavior, perspective, and connection, helping students develop empathy and a deeper appreciation for the diversity of human experience.

In 2022, she founded the Kindness Club, where her students build character through daily reflection and discussion inspired by Kindness 101. Through integrated lessons in humanities, literacy, and social studies, students explore multiple perspectives, whether analyzing influential activists or creating their own small businesses, learning how values, choices, and experiences shape individuals and communities.

Her work extends beyond the classroom through student-led service projects across Coeur d’Alene, including donation drives and community partnerships that promote compassion and civic responsibility. Through these experiences, Abby empowers students to understand their role in a diverse society while cultivating empathy, respect, and curiosity about the human spirit.
