Surviving Voices
"Surviving Voices” is a four-day event that turns to the humanities—the disciplines that foster exploration, understanding, and creative thinking—to provoke thought and demonstrate how alternative perspectives can help develop important strategies for combating violence against women in its many forms. This series will feature speakers such as Elizabeth Smart, discussions with women’s studies scholars, documentary films, and theatre performances. All events are free and open to the public.

Panel Discussion: Things You Know But Cannot Explain
The Boise Art Museum will present a panel discussion using the artwork of Native American artist Rick Bartow (1946-2016) as a focal point to have conversations about heritage, culture, storytelling, transformation, and identity. A moderator and three panelists will lend insight and help audience members understand and make personal and multi-disciplinary connections between the work of an important American artist and their own experiences.

Sheeptales Gathering 2017 - The Shepherdess of the Glaciers
We are bringing in Stanzin Dorjai to screen his documentary film centered on a shepherdess of sheep and endangered Pashmina goats in the Himalayas titled “Shepherdess of the Glaciers.” In addition, we will be bringing in his long-time friend and colleague, Konchok Stobgais, who helped found the Cashmere Center in Pangong of India’s High Himalayas. Stanzin will present the film, conduct a Q&A and story tell. While Stobgais will do a workshop on working with cashmere from the nomad’s viewpoint and provide a demonstration of how to make rope out of wool.

Museum Rock Party 2017
The Rock Party is designed as an engaging and educational hands-on museum event for children and families. The event focuses on Idaho’s historic mining, fossils and geology. Guided by dozens of volunteers, students work their way through numerous activity stations that have them using rock hammers, manipulating clay, sifting through sand, and more.

Pioneer Literature, Annual Presentation at White Spring Ranch
White Spring Ranch Museum is having our first Annual Pioneer Literature Presentation in conjunction with Genesee K-12 and homeschool children in the Palouse area. Stations will be set up to interpret events in the "Little House on the Prairie" books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and other children's pioneer literature. Our Log cabin, Grounds, Farmhouse and Sod home station will represent incidents and places in these stories of Pioneer Life, which were written through the children's eyes.
